Preserving Water Resources Is Essential
Water is a key ingredient in many of our formulations and a pillar of our tuna supply and production. We therefore see water efficiency as an urgent responsibility. We aim to reduce our water consumption while reusing as much as possible.
Setting the Bases for Our Water Ambition
We are committed to calculating our corporate water footprint and developing a robust water management strategy. We will continue to assess risks and opportunities at a local level to establish a meaningful path forward in priority locations. We are committed to raising our level of ambition in line with the latest science.
Water Efficiency as a Pillar for Operational Excellence
Through better monitoring and the use of advanced techniques, we are increasingly able to prevent water loss. Our goal is to reduce water consumption per ton of finished product by 20% by 2025 compared to 2017 levels. Our plants are committed to diversifying water sources, minimising water loss and waste, reusing water in our processes and ensuring adequate wastewater treatment to prevent pollution.
Increasing the Biodegradability of Our Ingredients
By 2035 we aim to reach 100% biodegradable ingredients in our home and personal care products. We are carrying out dedicated projects and undertaking a roadmap to consider the compatibility of our products with marine ecosystems. Thanks to these efforts, our relaunched Omino Bianco liquid detergent contains over 90% biodegradable ingredients and uses 22% less water per wash.
